These are actually informal sponsored dances which are held in American high school gyms. The term refers to the fact people danced in their socks to protect the varnished gym floor.

Carry socks

These are little carry cases for your mobile phone, usually made out of some sock-type fabric.

Sock puppet

Not just a puppet made out of a sock but this phrase alse refers to someone who creates a fake online identity for the purpose of deception and fraud.

This is a popular children's toy which features 2 boxing robots.

These are inflatable pads which are worn on both hands and used as oversized boxing gloves
